The bay window generally will have two angles and three windows.  Decorating the bay windows as one complete unit rather than three individual windows usually renders a more beautiful and consistent appearance.

The bow window is a type of  bay window. The bow window  has a continuous curve,  but  does not have the angles that a bay window has.

Window treatments for bay windows and bow windows  often consist of a valance and sheer curtains.  This type of treatment is common because it does not cover the architecture of the window .

The real dilemma of  dressing a bay window is not the window treatment  in itself,  but  obtaining the drapery  rods , curtain rods and hardware.  Before selecting the type of window treatment, it is wise to know the types of drapery rods and hardware that is available for bay windows.
